What a silly idea – to host the Winter Olympic Games in the warmest city in Russia? Is Siberia not suitable for it? Huge amounts of money are to spend, because even snow has to be brougt in!

Well, first misconception here is that snow won’t need to be brought in, because in the mountain cluster, which will host all the skiing and sliding venues, there’s always plenty of snow.
Having said that, I think what many people do not understand is that Sochi having great potential for being both summer and winter resort, has been only developing it’s summer-tourism opportunities. Having all this investments pouring into it’s winter infrastructure will help it develop as a year-round resort.
Additionally, Sochi already has developed (arguably, i agree. everything is comparative) hospitality industry, lots of hotels, etc. To build all this somewhere in the remote Siberian city would require a lot more money.
